The crash, which happened at around 7:50am on a dangerous bend in Ashbrow Road, involved a red VW Golf and a red Fiat Punto.
No one was seriously injured during the incident, though residents of the street said the drivers looked shaken.
A neighbour of one of the drivers said: "I woke up after hearing a bang and a car horn and realised there had been a crash or something. I looked out of my window and saw my neighbour by her car, she looked very shaken up."
Motorists continued to pass, some at speed, despite the wreckage blocking one side of the road, before police arrived at around 8.45am.
