Fire Hasn't Charred Williams' Drive Ahead Of Monaco GP

The Williams Team are ready to get back to the track after the fire following Pastor Maldonado's victory in Spain.

Despite one mechanic still being in hospital, Chief Engineer Mark Gilligan says the Williams racers, Maldonada and Senna, will be ready to race this week in Monaco.

"The team's preparations for Monaco have been somewhat hampered by last Sunday's garage fire, but the impact of the fire has been mitigated by what can only be described as a Herculean effort by the factory and our suppliers to restock both the damaged equipment and car parts," said Gilligan.

Maldonado stormed to victory after claiming poll from Hamilton who was moved to the back of the grid for a fuel violation in qualifying. His lead was extended during the race with clever tactics from the Williams team.

The pitting strategy outclassed that of Ferrari and their driver Fernando Alonso, who experts say pitted a lap too late. This allowed Maldonado to open a 6.2 second gap, which ultimately won him the race.

Lewis Hamilton is the bookies favourite to win in Monaco at 11/4 whilst Vettel and Alonso are both 5/1 to come out with the win. Maldonado sit further out at 11/1 with his team mate Senna at 100/1.

Qualifying starts in Monaco on Saturday afternoon at 13:00 (GMT) on both BBC1 and SkySportsF1 with build up starting at 12:05.
