Firms Ready To Lift Hosepipe Ban

Three water companies are ready to lift their hosepipe bans the after recent heavy rain.

Seven firms put restrictions on water use back in April to help fight drought in south and east England due to two unusually dry winters.

The restrictions were followed by record rainfall across England that month as well as more rain in May and June.

Anglian Water, Southern Water and Thames Water have all confirmed that they are to remove the restrictions on Wednesday at midnight.

Last week the Environment Agency said the recent wet weather had hugely improved river levels and reservoir stocks and reduced the risk of drought this summer.

Bans will continue in areas covered by South East Water, Sutton and East Surrey Water, Veolia Water Central and Veolia Water Southeast.

Richard Aylard from Thames Water said "We don't need a ban, but we do need to ask everyone to keep on using water wisely.
