Sweden's Nuclear Power Plants On High Alert

10 Nuclear power plant in Sweden have been placed on high alert after explosives were found on a truck near the southwestern atomic power plant Ringhals.

Swedish police said a bomb 'sniffer dog' detected the explosives whilst on a routine check on Wednesday afternoon in an industrial area within the power plant's enclosure. Police would not disclose any information about the explosives found.

There are four reactors at Ringhals, which is 45 miles south of Sweden's second-largest city, Goteborg. The plant is controlled by energy companies Vattenfall and E.ON.

Police spokesman Tommy Nyman said officers were investigating but have no leads after the female driver confirmed she had no clue of how the dangerous materials got there.

"An outsider has obviously placed them on the truck," Nyman said. "We're talking to the truck driver and are trying to map out her movements within the premises throughout the day."
